If you're after a whisky bar in Side that keeps things simple and real, this is it. We don't pretend to run a fifty-bottle rare-malt library — we stock the imported spirits people actually ask for and pour them properly. On the back bar you'll find J&B, Jack Daniels and Johnnie Walker — three names that travel well and need no introduction. Order them neat, over ice, or lengthened with a mixer; it's your call, and there's no fuss either way.

Hawaii has stood in Side old town on 512. Sk. since 2000, so this is a proper local bar with a kitchen attached, not a tourist pop-up. We're open every day from 10:00 to 02:00, which means the shelf is there whenever the evening runs long.

Tennessee whiskey is the crowd-pleaser, and Jack Daniels is the bottle most people reach for after dinner. That mellow, slightly sweet character sits well on its own with a couple of ice cubes, and it plays nicely long with cola if you'd rather sip slowly through the football. Speaking of which — we show live sport on the screens: Premier League, Champions League, football generally, plus Formula 1 and hockey. A Jack over ice with the match on is about as relaxed as a Side evening gets.

Johnnie Walker & J&B — the Scotch corner

For blended Scotch, Johnnie Walker and J&B cover it. Johnnie Walker is the smoother, rounder pour — good neat if you want to taste it, or with a splash of soda if you want it lighter. J&B is the crisp, easy-going blend that made its name as a long drink; it's a natural over plenty of ice. Neither is trying to be a peaty single malt, and we won't dress them up as one — they're honest, dependable Scotch, exactly what you want to close a meal off the wood-fire and charcoal grill.

Spirits aren't the only after-dinner move. We mix over 30 cocktails, from a classic Mojito or Cosmopolitan to house pours like the Hawaii Special and the Long Island Ice Tea, and there's a run of frozen fruit Twisters and Daiquiris if you'd rather something cold and long. If beer's more your thing there's Beck's, Carlsberg and Corona; there's also wine by the glass, plus white-wine spritzers. Hawaii is a bar and a restaurant, so it's genuinely family-friendly — you can bring the kids for grilled food and settle in for spirits later. On the food side, all our meat and chicken are halal (halal slaughter); pork is only prepared on request, in a separate area with dedicated equipment. Because we're also a bar, alcohol is served — so we'd never claim to be alcohol-free or halal-certified, just honest about what's on offer: halal meat, imported spirits, and a welcoming room.
