In Side, this is a surprisingly hard thing to find well done, which is exactly the gap we like to fill. At Hawaii Restaurant we're a kitchen and a bar in the same room, so hot liqueur coffees come naturally to us.

The liqueur coffees we pour

Here are the real spiked coffees on our menu — no invented specials, just what you can actually order:

• Irish Coffee — the classic: hot coffee, a measure of Irish whiskey and a soft float of cream on top. The one most people picture when they think "spiked coffee".
• Baileys Coffee — smoother and sweeter, built around Irish cream liqueur. A gentle option if you find straight whiskey a bit sharp.
• French Coffee — coffee with a French twist, warming and aromatic. A good middle ground between strong and sweet.
• Coffee Calypso — coffee lifted with coffee liqueur, so it leans richer and rounder.
• Kaffe Karlsson — a Scandinavian-style hot coffee, popular with our northern-European guests who already know it by name.

Prefer your coffee plain?

Not everyone wants alcohol in the cup, and that's completely fine. The same bar makes a proper Espresso, Double Espresso, Cappuccino, Coffee Latte, Coffee Americano and Hot Chocolate, plus a pot of Tea if you'd rather keep it simple. Because we're a bar as well as a restaurant, the spiked coffees are really just the warm cousins of everything else behind the counter. Good to know

A quick, honest note, because it matters to a lot of our guests: all our meat and chicken are halal, prepared by halal slaughter, so families who care about that can eat with confidence. Pork is available only on request, served in a separate area with its own dedicated equipment. That said, we are a bar — the liqueur coffees on this page and our cocktails do contain alcohol — so we'd describe ourselves as halal-meat and family-friendly, not as an alcohol-free venue. There's karaoke most nights too, if the mood takes you.
